Details
A pavé loop hung inside a plain gold one, so the earring reads differently as the head turns — from the front it is a single teardrop, from three-quarters it is two. The inner loop swings free of the outer, which is the whole reason to build an earring this way.

Care
Emerald is softer than diamond and is cut with its inclusions rather than against them, so it dislikes heat, ultrasonic baths and solvents — including the alcohol in most perfume. Clean it with a soft brush, warm water and nothing else.
Platinum does not tarnish. It moves: over years the surface gathers a fine matte patina, which is the metal displacing rather than wearing away, and which a polisher can return to a mirror whenever you would rather have one.
