The ceremonial collar, and the only piece here that took more than a year. Diamond scrollwork carries five graduated pear drops that are hinged rather than fixed, so they move independently and the whole front of the piece shifts with the wearer. Nothing about it is quiet. It is not supposed to be.

Emerald is softer than diamond and is cut with its inclusions rather than against them, so it dislikes heat, ultrasonic baths and solvents — including the alcohol in most perfume. Clean it with a soft brush, warm water and nothing else.

Platinum does not tarnish. It moves: over years the surface gathers a fine matte patina, which is the metal displacing rather than wearing away, and which a polisher can return to a mirror whenever you would rather have one.
